Some thoughts on confidence

Confidence is almost like wining the lotto. Everyone wants it but few seem to succeed. Over the last couple of years this was almost the universal sought after trait clients going through my office were looking for.

What I have discovered is this:

Confidence is a living, dynamic and ever changing state.

This simply means that it is not something you have and once you have it, it is set for life. Life‘s every day squeezes and imprints can have a big impact on your confidence.
The early childhood years have greater impact when the mind is most impressionable. Re-imprinting the childhood is much easier today with modern mind programming tools.

Confidence is an inner silent state

People who have true confidence carry with them a sense of inner peace and acceptance. They don’t overly ‘try to please’ others all the time and they are ‘not in your face’ showing off their confidence.

Confidence has strong roots but is open to change

They accept themselves for who they are and are open to change and growth. They have a inner state of curiosity and willingness to discover.

Confidence is not upset easily

Confident people’s buttons are not pushed easily. There is a balance between the ‘trigger’ and their response. They don’t try to change you or attack you and is not threatened by others beliefs, opinions and attitudes.  They have an open attitude but this does not mean they cannot take a strong view or standing point when required. Even it means disappointing others and hurting others as a result.

Confidence don’t catastrophise

The social media is overflowing with people who spreading doomsday messages all the time. Spreading fear is just a projecting of your own inner fear. Confident people have peace as an overall prevailing state which can have smaller states of peace, sadness, anger etc. inside of the peace.  But these states don’t rule and shake their world all the time. They use it as energy to act when needed.

Confidence don’t fight reality

Confidence accepts reality first and then moves forward from there. There is no ‘shoulds’, ‘musts’, ‘ought to’s’ etc. They accept what is, and then change what they can.

How to build confidence

·        Clear your past and negative childhood imprints.
·        Find your triggers which trigger non confident states. Usually it is visual and/or auditory triggers which set off an old childhood                    program. NLP has very effective techniques to deal with this.
·        Stand tall. Practise to have a confident posture. The Body and Mind affect each other. Start with the body and the mind will             follow.
·        Become competent in areas of your life which is important to you.
·        Set a small goal and achieve it. And then the next one. And the next one.
·        Change a small habit.
·        Smile often.
·        Exercise 4 to 5 time a week.
·        Be grateful, every day.
·        Learn to manage your mind (Use NLP)
