The mysteries of the mind and how it codes information is one of the most exciting aspects of my work. A client who was going through a difficult divorce and who was seeing me for some time booked a session to deal with the stress related to the divorce.

When she came in I noticed that she was in a very distressed state. Asking her for more information she said that she attended a workshop for depression the previous day and halfway through the workshop everyone had t shout to release emotional charge. The moment the people started screaming she experienced intense fear and almost felt like regressing to a very early age and had to leave the room. I knew that it was a trigger for unfelt trauma form an earlier age in her life.

With a combination of EMDR and Time Line techniques the neurological pathway led us to an event where she was attacked in a car in Nigeria with people shouting and hitting on the roof. We cleared the event and she started crying when the next event came up. Her daughter crying on the phone that she has just been raped and she could here herself making animal screaming sounds over the phone from shock and distress. After clearing this event the next traumatic event was her husband committing suicide and she was screaming in an attempt to save him. One after the other the events bubbled up from the unconscious: all the way back to an very early age where her mother was screaming and chasing her and as a young girl and she was hiding, terrified and full of fear.

After the whole neurological pathway was cleared she was able to go back to the first event again and now she had choice whether she wanted to stay in the event and also scream (in this workshop for depression she was attending) or if whether she wanted to leave. Calibrating to her body she was much more relaxed. The pain in her chest had disappeared and her headache was gone. Her eyes were relaxed and her voice tone deeper and slower. I knew that the shift was completed. The ‘shouting’ in every one of these events was the core link or trigger between them. Because these events were still stored in the neurology she felt the anxiety and fear while attending the workshop for depression.

When opportunities like these present themselves I am still in wonder and awe of the beauty and mystery of the human mind and that I have the privilege to be on this cutting edge time in history to be part of this.

If you want to experience some of these techniques join an NLP Training or book a session for and one on one experience.
